Reserve Your Table at the Meierhof Bar

We're delighted to share that the Meierhof Bar and González Lounge are open for business.

This newly renovated space, designed by the renowned Viennese architecture firm BWM, combines modern elegance with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

During the day, the González Lounge offers homemade pastries, creative snacks, and fresh sandwiches. In the evenings, it transforms into an elegant lounge – the perfect place to unwind after a long day.

Inspired by a classic Italian aperitivo bar, the Meierhof Bar offers a selection of aperitifs, Italian-inspired snacks, and small dishes, complemented by fine wines and digestifs.

It is a place to meet, enjoy, and engage in inspiring conversations, all while taking in the stunning sunsets over the Leopoldskroner Weiher.

We look forward to welcoming you to this new space, which represents the first phase in a multi-year transformation of the Meierhof.

Introducing the Mundheim Family Garden

We're pleased to share that construction work has started on a new garden outside the Meierhof.

Nestled between the Meierhof and Leopoldskroner Weiher, the Mundheim Family Garden will provide guests and visitors with a new space to sit and pause, hold quiet conversations, and find a moment of calm.

This project, set to be completed in five weeks, has been made possible by a generous donation from the Mundheim family.

Aura – Myth – Attribution

The Salzburg Festival and its contribution to Austria's identity formation in public perception from 1945 to 1955

On the occasion of the commemorative years of 1945 and 1955, the Salzburg Festival presents a compilation of photographic and documentary material that demonstrates the influence of culture on social developments in turbulent times. The focus is on the role the Salzburg Festival played in the identity formation of a new Austria within its sphere of influence.

After the horrors of National Socialism and the liberation from Nazi rule, art and culture served as a catalyst to compensate for an improved national self-esteem; they made a decisive contribution to redefining Austrian identity and reinventing oneself amidst the ruins. In this regard, the Salzburg Festival offers diverse opportunities for identification and unites tradition and vision.

On the one hand, the photographs document the liberators' perspective through the lens of the United States Information Service. On the other hand, they offer an insider's view, for example, through the camera perspective of Austrian photographers. Soon, American lifestyles blend with Austrian traditions. Iconic festival images solidify into myths. Political statements reinforce the importance of art and cultural exchange. Persistent stereotypes emerge across this epochal divide, shaping the image of Austria as a cultural land to this day.

“The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years.
