With 55 rooms in the Meierhof, 12 suites in the historic palace, and two townhouses, Schloss Leopoldskron is an exclusive and discreet hideaway just minutes from the Old Town of Salzburg.
Built in 1736 and surrounded by 17 acres of manicured grounds, Schloss Leopoldskron is next to a small, idyllic lake and features majestic views of the mountains and the Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Schloss Leopoldskron is also home to Salzburg Global Seminar, an international non-profit organization whose mission is "to challenge current and future leaders to shape a better world".
Renewable Energy Project - Construction Update
On May 21, we began the construction phase of a significant renewable energy infrastructure project involving the installation of two heat pumps.
The Meierhof's existing infrastructure will be connected to the new heat pumps via a 180m-long piping system running from the Meierhof to the carports on the north side of the property.
As a result, there will be some disruption for our guests and visitors in the following areas:
- The main gate entrance
- The Meierhof guest entrance
- The main Meierhof parking area (between the Meierhof and the palace)
There was a slight pause in construction between May 30 and June 9. On June 10, work restarted to allow for the completion of the excavation and pipe work. This work is expected to end on June 15.
During this time, parking will only be available in the Meierhof and the palace's rear parking lots.
Between June 24 and July 24, we will work further on the technical infrastructure relating to this project.
While we do not expect this work to be loud, there might be intermittent disruption to those near to Reception.
Later this summer, we also plan to install solar panels on the Meierhof's roof.
Together, these investments will enable our facilities to run almost entirely on renewable energy resources from solar, heat pumps, and the district heating system of Salzburg (as a backup system for the Meierhof).

Shakespeare in the Park Returns to Schloss Leopoldksron
We've been delighted to partner with Salzburger Landestheater again to continue our Shakespeare in the Park collaboration.
This year, Schloss Leopoldskron's grounds are staging Fairies and Ghosts. Previous productions include Lovers & Fools, Queens & Kings, Love Songs, Elves & Errors, and Golden Lads & Girls.
All six performances between May 17 and June 16 were sold out. A second run, however, will occur between August 20 and 31!

Schloss Leopoldskron Salon
On March 13, we were delighted to host our second salon as part of a new series in Schloss Leopoldskron's Max Reinhardt Library.
The Schloss Leopoldskron Salon is a regular meeting, serving as a space for an informal interdisciplinary exchange of ideas.
On this occasion, Martin Weiss, President and Chief Executive Officer at Salzburg Global Seminar, and Michael Kretz MSc were joined by Archbishop of Salzburg Franz Lackner.
Guests enjoyed hearing from Archbishop Franz Lackner about his background, beliefs, and his thoughts on how people view religion today.
Following the conversation, guests were able to network and enjoy a selection of snacks prepared by Schloss Leopoldskron's Kitchen Team.

Newly Renovated Seminar Rooms
The three Seminar Rooms on the second floor of the Schloss underwent soft renovations in early 2023. They now include state-of-the-art technology, including an 85-inch TV screen, and modern furniture. Each Seminar Room features ample natural daylight and an elegant atmosphere and can fit up to 40 people. The rooms are suitable for working groups and offer a variety of flexible seating options, allowing for many different meeting purposes.
