Terhas Berhe is an Ethiopian photographer, filmmaker, and multidisciplinary storyteller, as well as a Salzburg Global Fellow based in Austria.
Working as an African woman behind the camera, Berhe challenges dominant visual narratives and reclaims space for stories that are often overlooked, misrepresented, or silenced. As the first in her family to work and travel beyond Ethiopia, her intimate portraits offer a rare and personal window into lives shaped by resilience, belief, and quiet strength.
Her images reveal a world both familiar and seldom seen – monks, wise women and men, workers, and creators – captured with dignity and closeness. The Archive of Human Emotion is on display in the Seminar Room Lounge from June 2025.
