On April 16, 1918, Helene Thimig received a telegram from Max Reinhardt in Berlin: “Leopold treaty signed".
To mark the 100th anniversary of his purchase of the Schloss in April 2018, Daniel Szelényi curated this exhibition of historical photographs, which he had compiled through painstaking research over the past five years. It is a journey through time that impressively portrays the life of Max Reinhardt: from the beginning of his acting career in 1895, through his life and work in Berlin, during the height of his career in Hollywood, his emigration to the U.S., and in private moments—such as with his sons at the Lido in Venice or while skiing in Switzerland—up until his death in 1943. The collection, which consists of 50+ photographs and counting, not only includes rare finds from around the world but also personal images donated by the Reinhardt Family, as well as Reinhardt expert, Prof. Leonhard Fiedler.
