Schloss Leopoldskron was considered by the location-scouts of the film company “Twentieth Century Fox” as a film venue most likely due to Wolfgang Reinhardt’s contacts. Schloss Leopoldskron had been the property of the American educational institution Salzburg Global Seminar for several years. |
The palace was not open to the public and was sealed off from the outside to guarantee the exclusiveness of the educational activities. As a consequence, it was not taken for granted that some scenes of the movie could be filmed at palace premises such as the park and the shore of the lake. |
