On the first floor, next to the beautiful, antique library are the historical “Chinese Room” and the “McGowan Room”, which are frequently used as break-out rooms for workshops during seminars and conferences. However, during warm summer months it is hard to surpass joining a discussion group in the Schloss park with its panoramic view of the Untersberg mountain.

The rooms are furnished with antiques, which provide a stimulating background for reflection while the aesthetic appearance of the space inspires new ideas. It is fascinating to think that it was in this setting that theater director Max Reinhardt, along with poet Hugo v. Hoffmannsthal and composer Richard Strauss developed the concept for the Salzburg Festival before 1920.
