We are now on the first floor of the palace and enter the Venetian Room, which is decorated with magnificent handcrafted, gold wall panels and mirrors. Although the room feels “heavy”, you can easily imagine the fascinating effect of a candlelight dinner. |
Max Reinhardt designed this room with his passion for theatre-like staging of the Commedia dell’ Arte and dedicated it to the art of music. In 1964 the room’s musical character was highlighted when it was completely recreated and served as the setting for the ballroom in the movie “The Sound of Music”, thus making it famous throughout the world. |
