The final room to explore is the Chinese Room, which is graced with Chinese tapestries. With the creation of this room, Max Reinhardt restored to the palace the exotic character that had been particularly chic in the rococo era. The southern exposure of the windows supplies the room with abundant sunlight, while the antique furniture tempts one to relax there. |
The Second World War left its mark, when the splinters of a US bomb fell in the lake and damaged the wall mirrors and the tapestries. It seems ironic that the maintenance and care of Leopoldskron Palace has been in American hands since 1947.
