In the plays that he created for the “Leopoldskron evenings” he skillfully used the splendid, historic rooms as stage settings, leading his guests from one room to the next. |
Schloss Leopoldskron is also referred to as the “birthplace” of the Salzburg Festival, since this was the place where Max Reinhardt, along with the poet Hugo v. Hoffmannsthal and the composer Richard Strauss developed the concept. Despite great opposition, he conceptualized and implemented it in the summer of 1920 with the staging of “Jedermann” in Salzburg. |
